First Day in Bangkok

Sawatdee Khrap!
So, I've now officialy had the longest journey of my life! We left the YWAM base in Atlanta at 6:30 in the morning on Friday, December 31st. Our first plane left Atlanta at 11 am, and then we traveled over 13 hours to Tokyo. Man, was I tired! I did manage to sleep quite a bit on the plane...more than Mom and Dad. After a brief layover in Tokyo, we boarded another plane for Bangkok. This flight was about 7 hours, and all three of us slept a lot!

We arrived in Bangkok at almost midnight on January 1, 2011. I couldn't believe we missed New Year's Eve all together! Bummer. Jiap came to the airport to pick us up. Mom had met her before, but this was my first time to meet her. I like her a lot! Then we rode in a song taeow to the YWAM base. I loved that! The feeling of the wind blowing my hair was great!

We got settled into our place, and I had one last meal & finally got to bed around 2:30 am on the 2nd. What a lot of traveling!

Yesterday morning we did a temple tour in Bangkok. I've never been in so many kinds of transportation in one day! First we got a bus to the sky train. Mom says the sky train is kind of like a metro. Man, every Thai person that sees me loves me! They take my picture, touch me, kiss me, and everything! I'm a star! And I love to smile & keep my fans entertained! :)

After the sky train, we got on a big boat! I really enjoyed the boat, and I met a little girl from Nottingham, England on there. Her name was Rosie, and she was a little older than me. After the boat ride, we went to see the huge reclining Buddha at Wat Po. It's apparently pretty famous. There were SO many people there because all the Thais travel to 9 temples in celebration of the new year. And again, SO many people touched me & took pictures with me. Sometimes they tried to sneak & take my picture...that's the funniest!

After Wat Po, we went to see the City Pillar Shrine. It was really crowded there, so I stayed outside with Daddy. It was SO hot yesterday! I was sweating so much, and Mom & Dad kept putting sunscreen on me. Yuck!

Next we ate lunch. All the people in the restaurant wanted to see me. They put me in a leather high chair. I was like a celebrity! I love the attention!

After lunch, we rode in tuk-tuks to another temple. This one was way up high, so Daddy & Tyler and then Daddy & Kyle carried me in my stroller up all the stairs. When we got further up, I stayed with Mommy while everyone else continued the narrow stairwell. A Thai lady invited us to sit next to her. Two different Thai women fanned me and made a big fuss over me. I sure do have a way with the ladies! :) They all love me!

Finally, after that temple, we took another boat to another bus to the mall & the Big C. Some of the girls on the team wanted to get some more skirts before we head off to our first location. I hung out with Mom & Dad in the grocery store. I think they were looking at baby food & stuff so they would know what is available for me to eat once we run out of what we packed.

After the mall, we caught one last bus & went back to the YWAM base area. The lady that collects money on that bus sat with me almost the entire ride. Her grandson is also named Thomas. When we got back, we ate dinner at a market, and then I finally got some rest. It was a LONG day! I was really tired of having so much attention and glad to be in the room with just Mom & Dad. Phew!

I've had so much to tell you about, and it was only my first day. Who knew one baby would get so much attention?! Gotta go! I'm getting tired of being in the internet cafe. Until later....
