Hey everybody! We finished up our last couple of days in Mahasarakham. On Monday we had the morning off, which was a good chance for me to get a normal morning nap. In the evening, we went to a campus meeting outside. I had a lot of fun running around & playing in the grass. After the campus meeting, we went to dinner with all of our team & all the staff from YWAM Mahasarakham. They picked the restaurant, which was a fun place where you cook your own food at the table! They call it Korean style barbecue, but I heard one Korean say they call it Thai style barbeque. Funny. I got to see my first real elephant on the street! He was a baby. Then I saw another baby elephant later that same night. At one point, the really hot liquid we were cooking in got spilled on Mommy's foot & leg, but nothing happened to her. I think it was a miracle!
We took some fun pictures before we left the restaurant. I really love Aom & Tarn's daughter, Itim. She's my best buddy here. When lots of strangers try to poke at me & kiss me when I'm in my stroller, she defends me. She gets between me & the strangers, and then she tells them that I'm her little brother.
On Tuesday, we had to get up really early to go to a school assembly. Our team & the Korean team performed, and then we had a traditional Thai breakfast, which I found out were Vietnamese noodles. Funny, again. :) After breakfast, we got to go see the new YWAM Mahasarakham building, which they are moving into at the end of the month. We helped them move stuff to the new building, and we prayed over the new building. Daddy & Mommy both got to ride on top of the song taew, but I had to ride in the cab of the truck. It looked like a lot of fun, though. At the new base, I climbed up the steps (three stories) a BUNCH of times with Mommy & Itim. Mommy always had to carry me down, though. I had a blast & got really dirty!
Tuesday afternoon, Mommy, Daddy, & I went to have coffee with Aom, Tarn, & Itim. They gave us some gifts, which was really sweet! Then we went with them to buy a new sofa, two chairs, & a coffee table for the new base -- a gift from our team to theirs. :)
Tuesday night was VERY sad, as we had to say goodbye to them. They had a delicious dinner for us, and then the staff, the Korean team, & some of the students from the universities came to tell us goodbye, take photos, & watch us drive away. Itim didn't want me to leave, and I was really sad to say goodbye. I hugged Aom & gave her a kiss.
We drove through the night and got to Bangkok around 4 am today. We've spent the day off in Bangkok. We had McDonald's (yummy fries!) for lunch! And Mommy & Daddy had Starbucks (thanks to their gift card). I got to have some of Daddy's cream. :) I'm getting lots of treats in Thailand!
Tomorrow morning we leave for Kanchanaburi. Mommy says she doesn't know if we'll have internet access at all while we're there, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to blog or not. We will be back to Bangkok on the 4th of February.
Please pray for us as we head to our new spot. It's pretty remote, I hear, and they will be preparing all of our food, etc. I'm sure it will be fun, but I think it might stretch some of our team.
Much love to you all!
I'm so glad I get to keep up with your adventures Thomas! What a lucky boy you are to be part of something so amazing at your young age! I'm praying for your family and the journey God is taking you on. Make sure to let Mom and Dad get some sleep too :)
